HAPPY NEW YEAR✨
Hi everyone, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to the new year. Mine was and still is filled with being sick (upper respiratory infection; yay me🙃) and also doing this weird dance with grief. In the same breath, I am very thankful to God for blessing us to live to see another year.
This week’s edit I’m sharing with you what I’ve been up to: watching, reading, grateful for etc. Kick back relax and take a peek into my week.
How I’m feeling: Grieving and being sick are one of the worst combinations there is. As you may have read in one of my earlier posts, my husband and I lost our daughter a few months ago and it was the worst thing to ever experience. We miss her so much everyday💔. Sometimes, I wish I could go back in time and somehow prevent her from dying, even though everyone says “there’s nothing that could’ve been done”. She was our first child and it took us a year to conceive her. At a later date I’ll share our story because it was a pretty wild one. The fact that it took us this long to get her only to have her snatched away pisses me the 🤬off. Like I said, a story to share for another time. I have days where I’ll be okay but the days of me not being okay outnumbers it. Currently, I am not okay because what would’ve been her baby shower date just passed and her due date is fast approaching💔.
What I’m reading: I’m not a big fam of reading Rom-coms (i prefer to watch them) however, I have fallen down the Danielle Brooks rabbit hole and her novels have me hooked. My first time reading one of her novels was last month and I really enjoyed it, that I had to get more. Currently, I’m reading Kenderella and I have book 2 on standby, for after. I am a psych thriller girl through and through; however, I am challenging myself to read other genres. I tried it last year and failed miserably lol but I’m doing it now.
What I’m watching: Currently watching the new Harlan Coben series on netflix, titled “Missing You”. I will watch anything Harlan Coben puts out because he’s a fantastic writer. Also, I find British shows are generally better than American shows. If you’re into suspense, psych thrillers (do we see a pattern here😏), I highly suggest checking our any of his shows on Netflix.
Current Obsessions: I am currently obsessing over Substack and my newsletter. I love writing and having a newsletter of my own has always been a dream of mine. I used to write short stories as a kid and as I got older it kinda sorta fizzled out. I’m happy to have an outlet to do both, as well as my blog. An honourable mention: mini m&m’s🤤it’s my fave sweets of the moment. It’s funny because I despise the bigger ones😀.
Weekly joy: my pockets of joy this week has to be the cooking competition my husband and I started. We love watching cooking competition shows (iron chef) and I had the bright idea that we do our own. Safe to say, we need a neutral third party because we both thought we won😅. Another pocket of joy was being offered another partnership with the brand Firmoo. I am so grateful that my little platform is starting to reward me with these opportunities and I do not take any of it for granted. Speaking of, if you’re in the market for new glasses/sunglasses, check out Firmoo here (canadian site) and here (US site). You can use my code: PPKQ50 to get 50% off your frames. (If /when you shop my post using my links, I do get a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you in advance for your support🤍)
Housekeeping: Trying to figure out a schedule, your help is appreciated.
Until next time.
Xoxo,
Abi🤍
I’m so sorry for your loss. Heartbroken with you. Sending love
